My Elegant Stallion II in Action.

Following my last article, there has been reponse. However, I was expecting it at LEAST to come from President Jonathan himself; bearing sensitivity of the matter, the open letter being directly addressed to him and how swift action would have shot up his rankings on dedicated 'responsibility' to his citizens both home or abroad. It might be that the House of Representatives (HOReps) Committee on Diaspora taking up the matter was ordered by him. So, forgive my ignorance if so however, nothing of the sort says so in the report. And i doubt it.

Mr Soriwei was in Abuja yesterday and told the committee headed by my elegant stallion II - Mrs Abike Dabiri-Erewa, all that transpired in Cyprus. For detailed occurences, please read my previous post.

The HOReps committee upon their invitation, assured Mr Soriwei the incident would be thoroughly looked into and the Nigerian embassy in Cyprus would be questioned as to why the matter wasn't reported.

This doesn't sound a comment bittering enough for me but i guess it's a start! I would have hinted - summon the Consular General or Nigerian Ambassador to Turkey/Cyprus, have a petition immediately drafted to Cyprus International University for sending Gabriel Soriwei to his family as 'cargo' without his belongings and its International Students department for failure to liaise and support the Soriwei's upon the incident; leaving all responsibility to the President of the Nigerian Students Society. Also, have the Attorney General of Nigeria write a thunderous petition to the Police Force in North Cyprus from sheilding the suspect from Mr. Patrick Soriwei for 2 weeks. I suppose after the committee's investigations, all these would follow.

Fortunately for us, it seems we still have accountable and responsible leaders as representatives. The fact that a Nigerian can die abroad under such circumstance and there is no sense of agony spat on the country of incidence freaks me out. Yet, most of our leaders have kids schooling abroad.

For once, we should sit, fit in the shoes and imagine ourselves saying - What if this was Seun, Tola, Boniface Jnr, Claruis, Ogechi, Reuben Jnr or Feyi? ( Do I hear a thousand GOD FORBIDs?).

Thank you my Elegant Stallion II for looking into the matter. May God continue to bless you. Amen

Jide Alara.
